30 Days In!!!!

Here is me and Hazol. She is the one who weighed me in this morning for the official half point weigh in. She was so sweet and excited for me!!!

The scale was gracious this morning and all my hard work paid off in the form of 21 pounds gone. That may have been the most exciting step on a scale I've ever taken! What a roller coaster these 30 days have been. I woke up yesterday telling Tom I was SO over this competition. Then, I woke up cheering this morning when I saw what the scale said. I also ran almost five miles last night. And again, by "ran", I mean one might mistake me for a very bad Olympic speed walker. Nonetheless, I was proud of myself!

6 months ago when I was surfing in Hawaii and a shark tore up my knee I fell in the garage and tore up my knee, I didn't know if I'd ever run again. I haven't run that much during this competition because I want to go easy on my knee, but I ran last night with no pain and still feel fine today.

The last few days have included some ups and down (our sweet friend Cathy entered Glory this weekend after a long fight against cancer, Bethany is having surgery for ear tubes and a procedure on her nose for her allergies next week, I shattered the screen of our ipad yesterday, and I almost passed out during my workout yesterday morning with my trainer). But it's life. Hard things happen. There are frustrations. There are happy times. There is fun stuff. It's all life and in the midst of it I have to learn to not cope by eating and letting go of my exercise time.

People have asked me how I have time to do this? Truth is, I just find the time. I'm making this a priority right now. I drag my kids to GG. I workout while they're in preschool. I workout at night while Tom is here with them. The house is "clean enough". I skip fun things sometimes to fit my workout in. I'm just doing it....because life is too short to not enjoy as a healthy, thriving person.

So, now we're on to the next 30 days. I will no longer have a personal trainer, but I plan to keep the workouts going strong. No Cadbury eggs!!! No girl scout cookies!!! This, I solemnly vow!

And now, I present, the befores....and the afters!!

  3. Freeze a box of Thin Mints, or freeze them at a trustworthy friend's house! They need not be banned forever - after the GG contest you can eat a few here or there in moderation. 1 Thin Mint = 1 WW point.

    Keep up the good work!

  4. A friend of mine that broker her leg & went through months of therapy is now released to do any activity she wants. She quoted the following scripture...Psalm 51:8 " . . . these once-broken bones are dancing!" I think that should be your victory song, too!
